Hacker: Humphrey, do you see it as part of your job to help ministers make fools of themselves?
Sir Humphrey: Well, I never met one that needed any help.
– Yes, Minister.
I am writing after a long time of drooling, fretting, contemplating and well observing life. This is my first post from MDI, gurgaon and i thought let it be a reflection of my usual self. So, well read along and give your feedbacks.
The last year has perhaps been the most entertaining for the media and ‘aam junta’, most eventful for bureaucrats in India, most opportunistic for the opposition in our country’s politics and well the most embarrassing for Mr. PM and his party. From Raja, Radia and Kalmadi being the black sheep for their flock to PC, Digvijay and Sheila being the party poppers. It also marked the rise of Anna and his gang with Baba Ramdev taking us all through the most eventful days of the year with his fast and pot shots at the government.
Well, the government hasn’t done great at the other ends as well. Whether the weak introspective foreign policy, Sino-Indian disputes, curbing inflation, black money restoration or its flagship programmes in rural india like MNREGA or PM sadak yojana; they have all left a blot on the nation’s mark. Amid all these, we have the return of the term ‘LAME DUCK’ and the honest, credible PM targetted once again. He oftens comes out to defend it seems, but it happened too little too late. As the nation debates about the congress now publishing a cleaner – stronger image of the PM in daily newspapers or even if they still deny the maa-beta party accusation, the PM’s party just can not. Well, i think, its about time we had leadership of a person being clean, forward looking and a charismatic leader for a nation to rally around.
Speaking of it, let’s talk about the CM’s. According to independent reports, surveys, several CM’s have emerged as pretty successful in taking their states ahead in terms of economic and social prosperity. Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar, Dr. Raman Singh and Shivraj Singh Chauhan. It may be stark observation that all these belong to the NDA ruled states and 3 out of the four were pretty much in distress when their leaders took over few years ago. CM’s have also been in thick of news with two states paving way for damsels like Mamata and Jayalalitha taking over the reigns. How they work and bring results is yet to be seen, but its for sure that they promise a revival for respective states which were in deep waters due to the earlier corrupt regimes.
Well, as i look back, think and envision ahead, i see that well, life’s goals aren’t materialistic, but to talk about such idiosyncratic lingo, one has to have the stuff with him. Money matters and matters of money are pretty much the primary things throughout that road to realization. Whether i taking admission into a good MBA college so that i can see a better future, learn nitty gritty’s of business and make a credible network, i still have to muster up my courage to ask for money from my Dad. That money isn’t mine, however – whatever people say about blood and family. It’s a temporary loan to be repaid through hard work, returns of life and service in terms of care and generating pride. Similarly, for most people career or even life till they are old to hold on to their teeth, its about Mission money. That’s the plain truth, whatever people say.
So, well that’s my dilemma when i use the term ‘I AM’. To put it in simpler terms ‘AM I ?’ is the question i ask day in and out. Questions have surely driven mankind throughout eternity, from discoveries to modernization, from birth to love, from development to wars and from jungles to civilizations. This is the question i try to answer while i am here pursuing Masters in Business Administration. This is the dilemma every one of us answers while he/she wakes up every morning and goes to achieve something in lives.
